“Entre Santiago y Santa Ana pintan las uvas, y para la Virgen de Agosto ya están maduras”. “Between St. James and St. Anne the grapes are painted and in time for August’s Virgin they are ripe”. With this popular proverb, from the Spanish culture, ripening season for grapes is indicated. It makes the reference to the celebration of St. James and St. Anne’s on the 25th and 26th of July, dates on which “veraison” begin, the stage where red grapes begin to get their colour, finalizing ripening towards the 15th August (August’s Virgin). This year we’ve noticed later ripening of our grapes, which we hope will finalise by mid-September.
